At Damiefa School, we know that not all students progress at the same pace. This is especially the case when it comes to reading.

Damiefa School got many new students this year and the educational standards of other schools do not always match ours. Our staff has developed a programme to support students who are lagging.

In April, we continued our two-tiered approach to helping struggling readers:

1.ย ย ย ย Peer Learning Mentorship: stronger readers help their classmates with word recognition, pronunciation and comprehension.

2.ย ย ย ย Teacher-led reading support: additional sessions to reinforce spelling and comprehension outside of regular class time.

These activities are in addition to our regular reading lessons and our Liberia Reads! reading comprehension programme. As a result, we are seeing students gain confidence and improve their reading fluency. We are also seeing them participate more actively in lessons.

Weโ€™re committed to making sure every student has the chance to succeed!
