When we talk about economic empowerment, our microloans get a lot of attention. But savings are at least as important.

Coran has been a member of our Womenโ€™s Club from the day it was founded, back in 2016. When she came to Mineke Foundation she was a young woman in a very difficult situation. She used the vocational & business skills we taught her and the support of other women to get out of that situation.

Through the years, she kept growing her income and coming to the Womenโ€™s Club meetings to learn more about managing a business. She used her own experiences to encourage other women. Eventually, she even took on a leadership role in the Club.

One of the lessons Coran applied was consistent saving. Today, sheโ€™s the proud owner of a small shop in Dabwe Town. She used her personal savings from the Womenโ€™s Club to open that shop. No loan, no outside help. Just consistency and a clear goal.

For us and for other women, her achievement is a reminder that our Savings Club is another tool to help women become self-sufficien.

Coranโ€™s story is inspirational and we are so very proud of her!
