When we talk about economic empowerment, our microloans get a lot of attention. But savings are at least as important.
Coran has been a member of our Womenโs Club from the day it was founded, back in 2016. When she came to Mineke Foundation she was a young woman in a very difficult situation. She used the vocational & business skills we taught her and the support of other women to get out of that situation.
Through the years, she kept growing her income and coming to the Womenโs Club meetings to learn more about managing a business. She used her own experiences to encourage other women. Eventually, she even took on a leadership role in the Club.
One of the lessons Coran applied was consistent saving. Today, sheโs the proud owner of a small shop in Dabwe Town. She used her personal savings from the Womenโs Club to open that shop. No loan, no outside help. Just consistency and a clear goal.
For us and for other women, her achievement is a reminder that our Savings Club is another tool to help women become self-sufficien.
Coranโs story is inspirational and we are so very proud of her!
